• The Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “The Agreement for Cooperation in Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy marks a historic step in our engagement to build a clean energy partnership”.

• The agreement will permit Japan to supply atomic reactors, fuel and innovation to India, which will be the first nation that has not marked the Non-Proliferation Treaty or NPT to have such an arrangement with Tokyo

• The two nations had achieved an expansive agreement last December amid Mr Abe’s visit to India, however Japan, the main nation to have endured an atomic assault, saw solid political imperviousness to the arrangement, particularly after the 2011 fiasco at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.
