Mohit Sehgal was born on 3 December in year 1985 in Chandigarh into a Punjabi family and brought up in Delhi. He has done an acting course from Barry John. He also did advertising work for Dr. Batra’s and Maruti Zen Estilo, and print ads for Gatsby Hair Gel, Reliance P.C.O, Virgin Mobile, and a few magazines.

About the role he said, “I am playing the character of Somendra on the show. The show is based on the backdrop of Pratapgarh in UP. Somendra belongs to a Dabang family. His father doesn’t believe in education but he wants Somendra to be educated so that his son can progress in life and his status will be high in the society.”
