Arijit Singh, born on 25 April 1987 in Murshidabad, West Bengal belongs to a middle class family background. Therefore, it is not easy for him to choose music as a career over studies, but his family always supported him. Arijit Singh father was working as a LIC agent in a life insurance company while his mother is a housewife.

His whole family belongs to a musical background. His grandmother, mother and sisters are also very good singers. He initiated training in music from his maternal grandmother. He also learnt music from his mother who sings and plays the tabla. He learnt Indian classical music by Rajendra Prasad Hazari and trained in tabla by Dhirendra Prasad Hazari while Birendra Prasad Hazari taught him Rabindra Sangeet and pop music.

Arijit Singh went to Raja Bijay Singh High School for his schooling and for his college he went to Sripat Singh College. He got himself trained in Indian classical music by Rajendra Prasad Hazari. He learned tabla too from Dhirendra Prasad Hazari while Birendra Prasad Hazari taught him Rabindra sangeet and pop music.

Arijit Singh started his career in 2005. He also participated in a singing reality show named “Fame Guruku” but he didn’t win the title of the show. but He was eliminated at the sixth position from this singing show. Then he shifted to Mumbai and settled with his family in 2006. He participated in another singing reality show “10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil” in 2006 and he won the title of this singing reality show with the help of audience votes.

Music director Shankar Ehsaan Loy gave Arijit the first break in one of their songs called “All For One” from High School Musical 2 album.. This was Arijit Singh first song. He has belted out many hit songs including Phir Mohabbat (Murder 2), Phir Le Aya Dil (Barfi) and Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2), among others which earned him a lot of appreciation and respect from his fans & followers.
